The fourth in my ‘Monarchs of East Anglia’, following in the footsteps of Raedweld (red ale), Byrhtnoth (porter) and Boudicca (IPA) comes another porter, in the shape of ‘Cnut the Great’. Commemorating his victory at The Battle of Assundun in 1016, did you know that Cnut (aka Canute) is mistakenly ridiculed for attempting to stop the waves, when in fact he attempted to stop the waves (and failed) in order to prove to his court that he did not possess godly powers.
Anyhoo, three casks (at beer fests in November at South Benfleet Sports and Social Club and Rochford, and at The Victoria Inn), and a limited number of bottles.
